The Word 20/05/07: 300

We need to know our calling. Just see the soldier in the movie "300". These man knew their calling... To fight. To be soldiers! They are not ordinary soldiers... they are Spartans! Trained since the age of 7, the men set their mind and soul to fight for their country. Xerxes brought 2 million soldiers when he invaded the land. With just 300 elite man and 700 volunteers, it was impossible for the Spartan army to defeat them. Still they KNEW their calling... to defend Sparta! In the few days that they fight, they killed apprx. 20,000 of Xerxes soldiers. When they died, they have fulfilled their calling.

There is "300" story in the Bible too! 300 Israelites soldiers against the Midian army as vast as the sand in the seashore! With just torches on their left hand, trumpets on their right and a shout of victory in their mouth, the LORD delivered them. To the glory of HIS name! (Judges 6-7)

We are God's elite soldiers. We need to know our calling. Our general calling is to declare His name. Specifically? Not everyone is called to be a pastor. Not everyone is to be a businessman. Nothing against that. But some are called to be doctors. Some to be photographers. Some teachers. Some house wives. Still others as environmentalists. Scientists. Blacksmiths. Bankers. Politicians. And the list goes on :)

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, SO THAT YOU MAY DECLARE the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
